I hvae formerly posted a number of simple coffee recipes on the internet site, such as my Iced White Delicious Chocolate Mocha, Chai Tea Latte, Pumpkin Seasoning Cappucino, and and Sugar Macchiato. However, this homemade mocha might perhaps be the easiest one amongst them.
It’s wonderful, chocolatey, and takes rarely even more time to make than adding lotion and sugar to your morning coffee so it can be the thrown-together reward that gets you via an insane hectic early morning or something to sip slowly on a lazy Sunday morning.

Ingredient Notes
- Homemade chocolate syrup:You will produce a fast syrup of cocoa powder, sugar, and water to flavor the mocha foundation instead of using store-bought chocolate syrup or hot chocolate mix, as many recipes do.
- Coffee: Although espresso is used to make true mocha lattes, since most people have ordinary coffee on hand, we’ll use it for this homemade version. Use whichever coffee you have on hand; decaf is acceptable.
- Your choice of milk: Starbucks‘ coffee drinks come with 2% milk by default, however you are free to use any milk, including non-dairy milks. Your drink will be richer and creamier if your milk has a higher fat content.
- Heavy cream: Cream is optional, but a little splash adds a really delicious richness to the coffee. You can also use half and half if that’s what you keep on hand. For leftover heavy cream, check out my post What to Do With Leftover Whipping Cream for storage tips and recipe ideas for the leftovers.

How to Make A Homemade Mocha
- In a small pot or microwave-safe cup, stir together sugar, cocoa powder, and water. Heat in the microwave or on the stove, stirring until the sauce is smooth.
- Add coffee and milk and continue to heat until steaming. You can whisk the mixture vigorously until it foams if you’re making it on the stove. Transfer to a cup, garnish with whipped cream if like, and savor!
Mason Jar Method
Integrate all components in a mason container. Screw on lid securely and wrap top with a towel (in case your jar leakages). Provide a few excellent shakes, until everything is well-mixed and milk is foamy. Pour into a mug and microwave for 30 seconds or till steaming.
Mocha Variations
- Peppermint Mocha: In a plastic bag, crush a large candy cane. Then, add it to the combination of sugar, cocoa powder, and water, and stir until it dissolves completely.
- Caramel Mocha: After adding the coffee and milk, add a generous tablespoon of caramel or salted caramel. A dulce de leche mocha can also be made with dulce de leche.
- White Chocolate Mocha: Instead of using the prepared chocolate syrup, use chopped white chocolate.
